Web App Guide

Access GroundedAg from any device with a web browser. The web app is perfect for managing data, creating detailed reports, and analyzing trends from your office or home.

Accessing the Web App​

  1. Visit https://app.groundedag.com in your web browser
  2. Log in with your email and password
  3. You'll be directed to your dashboard

Recommended Browsers:

  • Chrome (fastest)
  • Firefox
  • Safari
  • Edge

Minimum Browser Support:

  • Must support ES2020+ JavaScript
  • Cookies and JavaScript must be enabled

Web Dashboard Overview​

The web app uses a left sidebar for navigation:

  • Home - Dashboard with recent activity

Web-Specific Features​

Full-Screen Map​

  • Larger viewport than mobile
  • Better for drawing complex field boundaries
  • Zoom and pan smoothly
  • Layer controls for fields, reports, satellite view

Advanced Reporting​

  • Generate charts and analytics
  • Schedule recurring reports
  • Export in multiple formats (PDF, CSV, GeoJSON)
  • Compare multiple fields side-by-side

Data Import/Export​

  • Upload shapefile field boundaries
  • Export scouting data for GIS analysis
  • Bulk upload operations
  • API access (for advanced users)

Keyboard Shortcuts​

  • Ctrl+S / Cmd+S - Save current form
  • Esc - Close modals/dialogs
  • Tab - Navigate between form fields
  • Enter - Submit forms
  • Ctrl+Z - Undo map drawing (if applicable)

Creating Scouting Reports on Web​

  1. Click Scout in the sidebar
  2. Select field, grower, farm, date
  3. Click on the map to mark observation locations
  4. Fill in observation details:
    • Type (Weed, Insect, Disease, General)
    • Species/description
    • Count or severity
    • Add photo (click to browse)
    • Add notes
  5. Click "Add Observation" to save
  6. Repeat for additional locations
  7. Click "Save as Draft" or "Submit for Review"

Advanced Features​

Creating Field Boundaries​

Draw on Map:

  1. Go to Fields → "Add Field"
  2. Click "Draw Boundary"
  3. Click points on the map to create polygon
  4. Click the first point again to close
  5. Fill in field details
  6. Save

Upload Shapefile:

  1. Go to Fields → "Import Field"
  2. Click "Choose File" and select a .shp file
  3. Review the boundary on the map
  4. Fill in field details
  5. Save

Generating Reports​

  1. Go to Reports section
  2. Select filters:
    • Date range (start and end date)
    • Field(s)
    • Observation types
  3. Click "Generate Report"
  4. Choose output:
    • View - See in browser
    • PDF - Download formatted report
    • CSV - Download spreadsheet
    • GeoJSON - Download geospatial data
  5. Save or email report

Bulk Operations​

If you have admin access:

  1. Go to Settings → "Bulk Operations"
  2. Choose operation:
    • Bulk import fields
    • Bulk edit field properties
    • Bulk delete old reports
    • Export all scouting data
  3. Follow the workflow
  4. Download results or confirmation

Responsive Design​

The web app is responsive and works on different screen sizes:

  • Desktop (1920+px) - Full sidebar + full-width content
  • Tablet (768-1024px) - Sidebar collapses, collapsible menu
  • Mobile Browser - Same as mobile app (though mobile app is optimized for field use)

Tips for Tablet Use:​

  • Use landscape orientation for larger sidebar + content area
  • Touch-friendly buttons and form fields
  • Tap the menu icon (≡) to toggle sidebar

Keyboard & Accessibility​

  • Tab Navigation - Navigate forms with keyboard
  • Screen Readers - ARIA labels for accessibility
  • High Contrast Mode - Visible text on all backgrounds
  • Zoom - Use Ctrl++ or Cmd++ to increase zoom level

Security & Privacy​

Best Practices:​

✅ Use a strong password - Mix uppercase, lowercase, numbers, symbols ✅ Don't share login - Each person should have their own account ✅ Log out when done - Click your name → "Log Out" ✅ On shared computers - Don't check "Remember Login" ✅ Report suspicious activity - Contact support immediately

Troubleshooting Web Issues​

Page won't load​

  • Refresh the page (Ctrl+R or Cmd+R)
  • Clear browser cache (Settings → Privacy → Clear Browsing Data)
  • Try a different browser
  • Check your internet connection

Map won't display​

  • Zoom in to your field area
  • Click "Reset View" to re-center
  • Refresh the page
  • Disable browser extensions (ad blockers, VPNs)

Forms won't submit​

  • Fill in all required fields (marked with *)
  • Check browser console for errors (F12 → Console tab)
  • Try a different browser
  • Contact support if error persists

Slow performance​

  • Close other browser tabs
  • Clear browser cache
  • Disable extensions
  • Check internet speed (speedtest.net)
